SPAIN: Paragliding in Andalusia
Friday, 10 December 2010 00:00

paragliding andalusia, flying andalusia, montellano, ronda, algodonalez paragliding andaluzie, algodonalez

I have been flying in Andalusia in 2008, but it was a set-back. We stayed 16 days and were flying just a single day. I guess it was the most expensive flying hour in my life :) The weather was really bad - raining almost every day.

The good thing was that instead of succumbing to misery we went travelling and checking out all the nice places in Andalusia. We went to the El Chorro gorge, Ronda, Alhambra, Granada and even made a one day trip to Tanger in Morocco.

Cheap Ryanair flights from Bratislava to Malaga

In November 2010 Dave, Ondra and Hynek gave the spanish Andalusia a second chance. The flight from Bratislava to Malaga was a breeze and so was hiring the car. We did not drive right to Algodonalez, instead we went east and checked out Almunecar with so many paragliding take offs.

Excellent flying conditions

The weather was not good that day so we spent the evening in a natural hot spa near Alhama de Granada. The next day we drove to Algodonalez where we rent a room with some other paragliding pilots.

The next day the weather got better so we started to explore the andalusian take offs such as El Bosque, Poniente, Montellano, Lijar and Ronda de la Vieja. We met many czech pilots and paragliding schools: Axis paragliding school, Jemm and ElSpeedo. They helped us to choose the correct take off every day, for the weather situation is not so simple in Andalusia.

The flying was excellent and we really enjoyed some nice thermals and so many soaring hours. The oranges and olives were maturing and we really enjoyed this November flying in Andalusia.
