I have so many experiences that I dont know where to begin. I got lost in a jungle, climbed a volcano and spent some time on an island. Sumatra is beautiful, so many volcanos, waterfalls, jungle and those orangutans. The only problem is travelling. Buses are tiny and terribly slow. I feel like a sardine in a tin-can when travelling on indonesian buses. All indonesian men smoke their local "kretek" cigarets and they give me a headache. But I love the nature here.

First I went to the national park in Bukit Lawang, where there is an Orangutan Viewing Centre, where they help semi-wild orangutans. I saw the local rangers feeding the animals. It was an unforgettable experience. I did a two day trekking in the local jungle, where I saw many wild animals: Macaco longtail monkeys, Orangutans, Thomas monkeys, Gibbons, Monitor lizards, Hornbills and other birds. Again the jungle in the night is quite an experience too. We rafted the Bahorok river on the way back.

Then I spent 5 days in Lake Toba, which is a huge volcano that collapsed in on itself after a massive eruption 100,000 years ago. Lake Toba is Southeast Asia's largest Lake, 450m deep. I believe that Lake Toba is the most chilled-out place in Asia. Just excellent for relaxation and a good rest. I also did some trekking there, with two friends and we got lost in the jungle. By the way: getting lost in a jungle is excellent. You get to see things that you would have missed otherwise. I totally recommend it :)

After Lake Toba I climbed the Sibayak volcano at Berastagi. It was awesome to see an active volcano with sulphur gases blowing out from the ground. But the place stank badly with sulphur. On the way back I sank myself in hot springs which was just what I needed after the long climb.
